Quick answers

How much does Jira cost per user?
As at 18 October 2026, USD 9.70 a month on Standard and USD 19.60 on Premium for the first 100 users, stepping down for larger teams. Free covers up to 10 users; Enterprise is quoted annually (list pricing tables).
Is annual billing always cheaper than monthly?
Not always. Annual plans bill fixed user tiers, so a team just above a boundary pays for the next tier: 40 Standard users pay less monthly.

Jira Cloud plans and list prices

Monthly billing uses per-user bands, annual billing fixed user tiers. Atlassian's pricing page can blend bands, so check its figure here.

Why Atlassian quotes Australian customers in US dollars, plus GST

Atlassian is "unable to issue quotes or invoices in Australian dollars for orders containing cloud products or Marketplace apps", and "Australian customers are subject to 10% GST." (purchasing FAQ) Ask any partner or reseller which currency it invoices in.

How a Jira bill is built: users, bands and tiers

Who counts as a user comes first; bands or tiers then turn that count into a bill.

Monthly or annual: where the tier jump costs you

Atlassian's annual toggle says "SAVE UP TO 17%", but tiers jump unevenly: 10, 15, 25, 50, 100, 200, then every 100 to 600. A team of 26 pays for 50.

Premium and Enterprise: what the higher plans add

Whether a collection is better value depends on how many Jira users also need Confluence and Loom.

Costs beyond the per-user price

Apps and metered usage add to the per-user price.

How to reduce your Jira bill

Savings come from billable users and timing, not list price. Start several months before renewal and you have options.

  1. 01

    Export your users

Check "last seen": "The date the user last viewed the app's workspace for a minimum of 2 seconds" (export users from a site).

  2. 02

    Check default groups

Atlassian warns that default groups can grant access you did not intend (default groups and permissions).

  3. 03

    Decide on the clean number

Then choose plan, tier and billing cycle.

  4. 04

    Act before renewal

"Cloud renewals and upgrades cannot be refunded", and renewals can be co-termed up to 24 months ahead.

Frequently asked questions

Are there Jira discounts for nonprofits, schools or open-source projects?

Yes, for eligible organisations: Atlassian offers "Community cloud subscriptions at 75% off the list price", 50% off for qualifying academic institutions, and free cloud software for Open Source projects. Confirm eligibility before you budget on it.

Does Atlassian's 13 October 2026 price change apply to a subscription we already have?

At your next purchase, renewal or upgrade: "This price update impacts new purchases as well as renewals and upgrades of existing subscriptions." Annual subscribers see it at renewal, or on moving up a tier.

How can we estimate our own Jira bill?

Atlassian's Cloud Calculator estimates a bill across apps and plans, and Senzo's Atlassian licence calculator shows where your subscription has room to save. Model savings on the user count after a safe clean-up.
