Atlassian for financial services in Australia
Banks, mutuals, lenders, insurers and wealth businesses adopt Jira, Confluence and Jira Service Management under constraints that shape the project. Senzo plans around them from the first conversation.

What APRA's standards mean for an Atlassian project
If you are not APRA-regulated, they don't apply directly, though group policies or customer contracts can set similar requirements.
- CPS 230, in force from 1 July 2026An APRA-regulated entity "must maintain a comprehensive service provider management policy".
- Core technology providers are materialUnless the entity can justify otherwise, providers of core technology services count as material service providers.
- Agreements, a register and noticeMaterial arrangements need a legally binding agreement, a register entry, and notice to APRA before any material offshoring.
- CPS 234, in force since 1 July 2019Assess the information security capability of third parties managing your information assets, and notify APRA of material incidents within 72 hours.
Planning Atlassian Cloud work around them
This is where we suggest an Atlassian project in a regulated organisation starts.
Senzo’s practical guidance- 01Settle the service-provider question firstAsk your risk team whether Atlassian Cloud, each app holding your data and your partner are material arrangements; confirm residency with app vendors directly.
- 02Know what residency leaves outUser account information is "out-of-scope for data residency", as are logs, app analytics and, for Jira Service Management, customer accounts.
- 03Decide what belongs in a ticketAgree a data classification, and keep account numbers and personal financial details out of free-text fields.
- 04Fit Cloud releases to your change processOn Premium or Enterprise, a bundled release track delivers most changes monthly, previewed in a sandbox; some still ship outside it.
- 05Make access and evidence reviewableProvision from your identity provider, grant permissions to groups, keep administrators few and named, and agree records with your risk team.

- Ongoing administrationOur managed service looks after users, permissions, configuration and apps, while you own priorities.
- Licensing and renewalsEditions, seats and renewals are on our Atlassian licensing and renewals page.
Frequently asked questions
Which APRA standards affect an Atlassian project?
CPS 230 Operational Risk Management, which covers how you manage material service providers, and CPS 234 Information Security, which covers information assets a third party manages for you.
Can our Jira and Confluence data stay in Australia?
In-scope app data can. Atlassian offers data residency for Jira, Jira Service Management, Jira Product Discovery, Confluence and Loom on Standard, Premium and Enterprise, with an Australia (Sydney) location.
Does Atlassian publish guidance for APRA-regulated customers?
Yes, for Cloud Enterprise: its APRA CPS 234 guidance "offers specific mappings to each requirement". On Standard or Premium, treat it as a map of the questions rather than a description of your plan.
Does Senzo make our Atlassian environment APRA-compliant?
No. Compliance with APRA's standards is your organisation's to assess and evidence. We design and build the Atlassian side so approvals, change records and access reviews are captured as part of normal work.
How should a regulated organisation approach Rovo and Atlassian AI?
Through the same service-provider and data-classification questions as the rest of the platform. Atlassian's AI data contribution settings, in effect since 17 August 2026, follow your highest active plan and apply whether or not Rovo is in use.
